Who knew that the most exciting thing on the Olympics yesterday would be curling? Could you or could you not cut the tension between the US team and team Suisse with a knife? Curling is often mocked, I think, because a) it looks as though it would be easy (though I suspect it is quite difficult and I would be about as good at … Read More

IKEA, YouKEA: a photo essay
A couple of days ago we set out in Allen’s Prius to go to IKEA (could we be more precious? I’m not sure that we could, but if you would like me to amp up the precocity, I’m sure I could try). The whole way there, I flipped through the catalog–going back and forth on which desk I would get. At one point, we … Read More IKEA, YouKEA: a photo essay
new look
I decided to spruce things up around here. What do you think of my new template? Still having a few issues, like every time I post something, haloscan gets wiped out. Oh well.

Happy Valentine’s Day
Allen and I are on a mini-vacation this week–so I apologize for being so quiet. Check back here later today when I document our trip to IKEA. Yes, that’s right, an IKEA opened up in our neck of the woods with much fanfare. It was a big story (sadly, I am not joking) with all of the local news venues covering it. And today, … Read More Happy Valentine’s Day

Cheney accidentally shoots fellow hunter: Harry Whittington, 78, was “alert and doing fine” after Cheney sprayed Whittington with shotgun pellets on Saturday at the Armstrong Ranch in south Texas, said property owner Katharine Armstrong.
It is snowy and cold here today (this is my husband and our dog in the woods) but not as snowy as some places. I know, for example, that folks like Ellen and Robin (check out those photos of Monty–isn’t he a cutie???) are buried. Here’s my Darby. Despite his expression here, he really does love the snow.
Happy Birthday Charles Darwin

Little Noises: a movie to watch as it relates to literary scandal
I’ve been thinking of “Little Noises” lately as it relates to Freygate and JT Leroygate. If you write, I would urge you to watch it if you haven’t already because it might touch some nerve in you, might expose some of your own darkness, your own questions of, “what would I be willing to do to achieve validation?” The premise is that Joey (played … Read More Little Noises: a movie to watch as it relates to literary scandal
The Olympics: WTF?
Is it just me or does the opening ceremony seem like a Christopher Guest movie? Don’t get me wrong, I love both the Olympics and Christopher Guest, but I find myself laughing and I’m not sure I’m supposed to be. What is up with the cows on ice and the people dressed as cows waltzing? And the men with the flames shooting out of … Read More The Olympics: WTF?
