I’m excited to announce that I will be the guest editor at SmokeLong Quarterly for the week of 1/9-1/15/2012. Hope you will please consider submitting your work during that week. I promise I will read it with great care.

ETA: if you submit before 1/9, I won’t be able to read it. So if you’d like to submit during my time there, please wait until 1/9. Thank you!

    • Hiya! It’s for flash fiction. I will look for something that works with the SmokeLong aesthetic. So if you nose around on the site and read some of the pieces, you should be able to get a good idea. Hope you will submit some work.

  1. Hi Myfanwy,

The Smokelong Q’ly editorial staff passed along your feedback on my submission Baby Crazy. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on my piece. I always find the best submission experiences are the ones where I get to interact with the editor. Since I couldn’t reply to you there, I’m leaving my comment here: Thank You!

I will read your upcoming selections with great interest.

    All the best,

P.S. Please delete my previous incomplete comment, thanks.

    • Hi Carol,

My pleasure! It was such a tough, tough choice. The whole batch of submissions I read (78 in total) were exceptionally high quality. Thank you, again, for submitting. And thank you for following up with me here. That was extremely gracious of you. Best, Myf

      • It’s my pleasure and it was the least I could do.

Thanks again, and I hope you had fun this week. Yes, the choices are always tough, but when all the pieces you select click together it makes it all worth while.

          • Wow, really? That surprises me. And selecting one piece out of 78 has got to be torture.

I don’t have insight on how they set things up with guest editors. I assumed (always a dangerous idea) that the guest editor selected the final pieces to go into the issue.

On a separate note, you’re so kind to follow my blog…it made me blush! I’ve followed you back, of course.

Here’s to meeting over the ether…

  2. Hi Myfanwy,

I also came here to thank you for your kind comments on my story. And I will definitely think about your revision suggestion; it was wonderful to get such helpful feedback.

    Warm regards,
