I firmly believe that cell-phones are the cigarette of the 21st century. Think about it, people pull them out when they are alone for more than three seconds and stick them to their ear not worrying about whether or not they are causing a brain tumor or whether or not they are going to veer into the other lane in traffic and kill someone else–just like lighting up a cigarette when you’re alone in your car or staning in a bar waiting for someone. It’s the new little friend–potentially deadly, but oh so enticing to cover up those awkward bits of alone time. I hate cell-phones but I still use mine under dire circumstances (hell, I also used to be a smoker. Color me hypocrite).

With that said, I do like the idea of providing artists with different outlets for their work and so the thought of a cell-phone film festival tickles me.
